Tapping & Connop win BTBA Tenpin Tour 2025 Stop 1 Hollywood Poole

Note:  The Tenpintour is a Seniors tour with handicap scores.  Total Scores/Total Pinfalls quoted below are inclusive of handicap, however the averages are tournament averages and are scratch.

The BTBA Tenpintour ‘rolled’ into 2025 at Hollywood Poole on 25th & 26th January 2025.  A total of 66 senior men and 20 senior women took to the lanes to compete over six games with handicaps to determine the eventual winners on total pinfall.

The men always provide an exciting event with innumerable 200+ scratch scores, with the top-14 men rarely posting anythind under 200, with Andrew Tapping, the eventual men’s winner, opening with 1,446 scratch + 102 hcap. for a winning 1,548 / 241 avg. total which included games of 264, 256, 247, 248 & 258, the only ‘blemish’ being a 173 game 3.  Second place went to Raymond Gooden with  closing trio of 222, 211 & 205 for 1,165 scr. + 360 hcap. = 1,525 /194 avg., third went to Daren Knightsbridge with a full set of honour scores – 206, 246, 257, 232, 202 & 210 for 1,503 / 226 avg.,, fourth to Steven Gee with 1,284 + 216 hcap. for 1,500 / 214 avg. and fifth went to another full set of honour scores including a 258 game, for Stephen Bose with 1,481 / 228 avg.

The men’s High Game was scored by Chris West, who waited until Game 6 to light his scorecard further with 279, after a set of 238, 235, 215 & 226 games in his 1,419 / 226 avg. 11th place finish.

The women saw Tina Connnop topping the table with 942 scr. / 366 hcap. = 1,308 / 157 avg. ahead of Sarah Boyer, 2nd with 1,107 / 162 hcap. = 1,269 / 185 avg. and a 208 in game 5, Sally Spence, 3rd with 1,122 / 120 hcap. = 1,242 / 187 avg. and games of 220 and 213, Carole Orange took fourth, including the women’s high game of 226 in game 3, in her 1,061 / 168 avg. = 1,229 total and fifth went to Sue Cobb who included games of 221 & 204 in her set of 1,059 / 168 hcap. = 1,227 / 177 avg.
