It’s been a whirlwind first six months as BTBA chairman, challenging but rewarding.
My first job was to fill some vacant positions on the Executive and National councils. Within a couple of weeks, we were lucky to add Neil Taylor and Vicky Knightsbridge to the team. Neil as “Head of Membership Services “and Vicky as “Inclusion and Diversity “. Both have become very valued members of the team.
Later, Craig Ellis left his post as Central Regional officer but continues to do great work for his county. We then welcomed Mark Patrick into this role. I know that Mark will do a great job.
On the business front, I have met or spoken with Proprietors, Suppliers and Sponsors always receiving a warm and positive welcome. I will endeavour to continue building on our good relationships with all these great people.
On the bowling front, I have had the honour of attending events, making speeches, presenting awards and medals and watching our athletes with pride at numerous events. I am always amazed at the wealth of talent we have at all levels. Team England continues to do us proud, bringing home medals wherever they go.
At this point I need to thank everybody!
Firstly, the members of the Executive and National councils for the many unpaid hours that they put into running the BTBA. We have a number of projects on the go with lots of great work being done on behalf of the membership. Thank you also to all the Local association officers, League officials and coaches who also give up many hours of their valuable free time to keep associations, leagues and tournaments going. Last, but not least, I thank all of our loyal members without whom we wouldn’t have an Association or Sport Bowling in this country.
Looking forwards, I would like to see more team bowling events, the National Championships given a little more prestige, and obviously an increase in membership to enable our sport to grow and flourish.
Most of all I hope everyone can continue to enjoy their bowling.
