Payne and Mault win TenpinTour 2025 Stop 6 Acocks Green

Note:  The Tenpintour is a Seniors tour with handicap scores.  Total Scores/Total Pinfalls quoted below are inclusive of handicap, however the averages are tournament averages and are scratch.  ‘200 games’ typically refers to a games at or in excess of 200 pins.

Stop 6 of the BTBA Tenpintour 2025 took place at Acocks Green Bowl between Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August 2025.  A total of 82 senior bowlers, comprising 58 men and 24 women took place in this months competition.

Men – Martin Payne carded games of 221, 209 & 200 in his 1,178 scr. + 282  hcap.= 1,460 / 196 event scr. avg. set.  2nd place was Paul Walker with 3 x 200 games in his 1,218 + 240 = 1,458 / 203 scorecard whilst Adam Woodyatt took 3rd with 1,226 = 198 = 1,424 / 204 total, which also included 3 x 200 games.  4th was Peter Fyles with 2 x 200 games in his 1,154 + 264 = 1,418 / 192 total and 5th saw Gary Baker opening with the 267 high game and 3 further 200 games for 1,280+ 132 = 1,412 / 213.

As ever, there were very many 200 games, indeed as many as 72 in fact, between the remaining men, with special mention to Sukky Gill, 9th, with 5 from 6 200 games and Alan Meades, 49th, with the front 4 games all 200 plus.

Women – Mary Mault came out of the blocks at ‘full speed’ opening with the women’s high game of 254 in game 1.  This was followed by a further 5 games of 170 and above and a 190 game 6, for a winning total of 1,146 scr. + 150 hcap. = 1,296 / 191 event scr. avg.  2nd place found Anna Yang with an opening high game of 194 and 4 more games at 181 and above in her 1,117 + 150 = 1,267 / 186 finish.  3rd was Linda Buckland with a steady 888 / 36 = 1254 / 148, 4th was Val Hopcraft, also steady with 1,043 + 204 = 1,247 / 174 and 5th was shared between both Carole Orange and Manel Hannan, with Carole recording a final 203 game, in her 1,069 + 150 = 1,219 /178 and Manel’s 937 + 282 = 1,219 / 156 finishes. 

There were a total of 10 honour scores between the women including a 235 game 4 for Sandra Boswell and a 225final game for Jan Hodge.
