Stop 5 of the BTBA Tenpintour 2026 took place at Stroud Bowl on 30 & 21 May 2026. A total of 90 senior bowlers, comprising 65 men and 25 women took part this month.
Note: The Tenpintour is a Seniors tour with handicap scores. Total Scores & Total Pinfalls quoted below are inclusive of handicap, however the averages are event averages and are therefore scratch.
Men – Chris Skudder – ‘hitting the ground running’ is beginning to be an often used phrase with the men, but indeed it’s what this Stop’s winner did! An opening 268 in G1 was followed by a further 5 honour games totaling 1,337 scr. / 234 hcap = 1,571 total / 223 avg. to win Stop 5, taking 1st place in both handicap and scratch disciplines! There were however many other quality displays, with 2nd placed Tony Imren with a pair of 267’s in his 1,283 / 252 = 1,535 / 214 total, 2 honors for 3rd placed Paul Wedlake with 1,192 +3 24 = 1,516 / 199 and 4th placed Darren Harding with a impressive 258 Game 2 – and two further Honors – to card 1,152 + 342 = 1,494 / 192 and by no means least in 5th place saw TPT regular Dave Thornton who included a pair of 212 games in his 1,198 + 294 = 1,492 / 200 finish.
Both the mens high game was shot by Chris Skudder in game 1 with a 268 and also the mens high scratch series of 1,337 was Chris’s too! Great work Chris!
Women – Sally Spence – also headed both the scratch and handicap disciplines with her win this time round. 2 honour scores and both the winning scratch and handicap totals of 1,180 scr.+ 138 hcap. = 1,318 total / 197 avg placed her firmly atop the women this time round. 2nd place saw Bev Smitheram with the women’s High Game of 265 in her 1,113 + 174 = 1,287 186, 3rd place and with a 200 game was home to Hilary Cooke with 1,089 + 174 = 1,263 / 192 whilst in 4th saw Debbie Law carding two Honour games as she finished 1,112 + 150 = 1,262 / 185. Last but no means least was Angela Steward, holding steady in 5th place with 961 + 288 = 1,249 /160.
The women’s high game was shot, as last time at Acocks Green, by Bev Smitheram in game 6 with a 265 and the women’s high scratch series was shot by Sally Spence with 1,180.
Congratulations to all who competed, especially our Stop winners Sally and Chris. Our next outing sees us at Hollywood Poole on 27/28 June.
