60 Senior Men and 28 Senior Women made the trip to Stroud Bowl for the 9th Stop on the BTBA Tenpintour 2024, held on 26/27 October 2024.
SENIOR MEN – Harald Grau posted a great score of 1,390 scr. as he took top honours and 5 of 6 honour scores – though the ‘missed’ honour score was still a 197! to win this Stop of the 2024 Tour. A set including games of 268, 252 & 267 ‘bookended’ with a pair of 203 games set an enviable target of 1,390 scr. / 132 hcp. = 1,522 tot. / 232 avg. Up stood international Alan Keddie to challenge Grau, and posted not only a complete set of 6 honour scores, the lowest of which was a 223 game, but also the highest game of the event with a 289 game 6 for 1,500 scr. / 18 hcp. = 1,518 tot. / 250 avg. and 2nd place. Last month’s Stop 8 Champion Ron Griffin was next up with an opening 246 game and a closing 249 in his set of 1,283 scr. / 234 hcap. = 1,517 tot. / 214 avg. and 3rd place. 4th place went to Nick Longworth with 4 honour scores for 1,270 scr, / 216 hcap. = 1486 hcp. / 212 avg.and 5th to Nik Parry, who included a 255 game 5 in his total 1,246 scr. / 210 hcp. = 1,480 tot. / 208 avg. as he took 5th place.
Men’s and overall Event High Game – Alan Keddie, Game 6 289.
SENIOR WOMEN – Linda Pray added to her 200 and 207 high games and posted a fine 1,117 cr. / 192 hcp. = 1,309 / 186 avg. as she secured her place on the winners’ list for the 2024 Tour. Bev Smitheram took 2nd with her 1,090 / 198 hcp. = 1,288 tot. / 182 avg. with games including 211 and 205. Liz Eyre settled for 3rd after 2 victories this season (Stop 8 Stop 2, both at Dunstable) with 1,052 scr. / 216 hcp. = 1,268 tot./175 avg. and a 190 high game, and Carol Brock took 4th after games including 213, 222 & 204 in her 1,157 scr. / 108 hcp. = 1,265 tot. / 193 avg. scores. 5th place saw Sally Ann Webb include games of 202 and 219 in her 1,079 scr. / 186 hcp. = 1,265 tot. / 180 avg.
