BTBA Archive: Giddens & McCarthy win Tenpintour 2025 Stop 3 Airport Bowl

Note:  The Tenpintour is a Seniors tour with handicap scores.  Total Scores/Total Pinfalls quoted below are inclusive of handicap, however the averages are tournament averages and are scratch.

Stop 3 of the BTBA Tenpintour 2025 took place at Airport Bowl in Harlington on 5 and 6 April 2025.  The jet-fuel was working for both Steve Giddens & Teresa McCarthy who both became first-time champions this month.  A total 108 senior bowlers, comprising 79 Men and 29 Women took place in this months competition.

Men – Steve Giddens – opening with the high-game fo game 1, Giddens would ‘drop’ to 194 in game 2 before closing-out with four further honour scores for 1,312 scr. +216 hcap. = 1,312 / 219 avg. to take is first TPT win with 1,528.  Never far behind was Andrew Tapping, with not only a full-house of honour scores (including. 258) but also the Tournament High Game of 280, in his 1,430 + 66 = 1,496 / 238 second place finish.  Third was Robin Skinner with highs of 229 & 203 in his 1,129 + 348 =1,477 /188 finish, fourth was Mark Roberts who carded a full set of honour scores (including 258 & 269) for 1,355 + 120 =1,475 and fifth was Steve Donowski with 4 honour scores for 1,235 + 216 = 1,451 206.

Women – Teresa McCarthy – starting with 174, McCarthy then added games of 211, 214 and 237 in her winning 1,212 + 102 = 1,314 / 202 first place score.  Not only did she take her first TPT win, she also recorded the Women’s Tournament High Game with 237!  Second place saw Liz Griffin with a steady 1,086 + 198 = 1,284 /181.  Third was Sue Cobb with games of 201 & 215 in her third place 1,074 + 174 =1,248 / 179, fourth place was Jodi Law with 1,078 +168 = 1,246 / 180 and in fifth we find Carole Orange, with an opening 202 game in her 1,073 + 162 = 1,235 / 179.
