Another Senior Triple Crown and what a great event.
Teams from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Iceland converging on Stroud Bowl for the four day tournament.
The opening ceremony was the usual mixture of Flags, Music and Marching, with all the teams on the approaches for intros and photos.
The mayor of Stroud honoured us with his presence and a short speech to help kick things off. The evening was rounded off with a lovely buffet courtesy of Katie and her catering staff.
“…It was great to see all nations taking home a good haul of medals…”
The bowling over the next three days was challenging for all on a tough but fair condition. We saw some great bowling with lots of high scores and lots of very closely contested medal positions. It was great to see all nations taking home a good haul of medals, all of which I had the pleasure of presenting.
The overall honours went to England but it was far from easy with Ireland ladies pushing England all the way and England men closely challenged in all of the events by Wales, Iceland, Ireland and Scotland.
Special shout out to Robert Bruce from Wales, bowling off the wrong foot because of injury and still managing to medal in the All Events, outstanding performance.
Many thanks must go to Kim & Diane for allowing us to use their bowling centre to hold this event. We must also thank the bowl staff who did a great job throughout. Mark and Shae were brilliant giving us a fun quiz night on Friday and live streaming throughout. Katie and her team kept us all fed and watered over the 3 days. The technicians kept lane downtime to a minimum. So all round a great job.
Next I must thank Hadley and his team for a well organised and well ran Tournament with great attention to detail. Vicki for doing the scoring for 3 days without complaint 👏👏 and Paul and Mike looking after our teams.
Last but not least, to all the players managers coaches and supporters who came together to make it a great weekend and a great pleasure to be part of.
