Youth Triple Crown – Singles

Tournament play kicked off this morning at the Youth Triple Crown held in Spectrum Bowl, Guildford with the boys singles.

England’s Jack Barwick and Ireland’s Jack Bruton were the early leaders in the u16s division, opening up with 245 each. Charlie Upton, the tournament’s youngest competitor at just 11 years of age opened with a strong 226 in his Team England debut. In the u19s, England’s Robbie Bowden opened with a 230 and it was Jamie Gore, England who took the early lead in the u22s with a 212.

At the end of the 6 game block, it was Jack Bruton of Ireland who emerged winner of the u16s with 1137 (189 average). Oliver Spindley, England topped the u19s with 1285 (214 average) and Scotland’s Ryan Hart was the u22s winner with 1356 (226 average).

In the girls singles, it was a clean sweep for England in the u16s and u18s divisions, with Jenny Grace topping the u16s with 1085 (180 average) and Issy Allen edging team mate Katie Watson for the gold in the u18s with 1183 (197 average). The u22 division came down to the final game, with England’s Sophie Thompson and Scotland’s Alison Williamson being tied for the top spot after five games. A 199 final game from Sophie was enough to secure her the gold medal with a total of 1176 (196 average), with Alison finishing second with 1153 (192 average). England’s Lucy Wall rounded out the top three with 1081 (180 average).
