I had the pleasure of attending the Yorkshire Handicap Singles Tournament on Sunday, writes BTBA Chairman Geoff Brown…
Although I was on a mission to present Ray Arthur with his Chairman’s Award, it gave me a great opportunity to watch and be part of a fantastic Youth Bowling event.
The tournament, part of the Youth Bowling Aspirations Tour 2025 and superbly organised and run by both Lee Metcalfe and Debbie Alderson, featured some very enthusiastic and talented young bowlers.
The Youth Bowling Clubs represented were, Barnsley, Barnsley Grenades, Shipley, Mansfield, Chesterfield, Wallasey, Acocks Green, Excel Sunderland, Manchester, Huddersfield, Ashby & Wearside. The standard of bowling was brilliant, the noise was incredible and the atmosphere was terrific.
The Final came down to two very talented young men both from Shipley YBC, with Olly Stephenson just edging out Jolan Byron to take the title.
