Stop 7 of the BTBA Tenpintour 2026 took place at Acocks Green Bowl on 1 & 2 August 2026. A total of 72 senior bowlers, comprising 55 men and 17 women took part this month.
Note: The Tenpintour is a Seniors tour with handicap scores. Total Scores & Total Pinfalls quoted below are inclusive of handicap, however the averages are event averages and are therefore scratch.
Men – Cliff Greaves was almost ‘perfect’ this day with 5 of his 6 games all ‘honours’ and above 205 for a total 1st place 1,236 scr. + 234 hcp = 1,470 event total / 206 event avg., a comfortable 123 pins above 2nd placed Tom Flynn who carded a single honour score 215 in game 2 of his 1,113 + 294 = 1,407 /186 total. 22 pins behind and in 3rd place was Nick Stephens, also with a single honour of 227 in game 5 for 1,073 + 312 = 1,385 / 179. Though honour scores were ‘patchy’ in general for the usual powerhouse of the men’s results 4th found Gary Baker with 4 honour scores in his 1,224 + 156 = 1,380 / 204 and Steven Gee in 5th with opening 204 and 227 games as he closed with 1,144 + 234 = 1,378 / 191. Finally Alan Meades was the last ‘big honour score runs’ in 6th with the men’s High Scratch Total of 1,275 as he closed with 1,275 + 102 = 1,377 / 213.
Several other athlets had honour games in their sets, some with 3 honors, including regulars Sukky Gill who took the men’s High Game of 255 in game 5 in his 26th place finish and Alan Keddie who linked 5 honours from game 2 through to 6 to tie 28th place with Chris Taafe on 1,211 + 78 = 1,289 /202 (Alan) and 959 + 330 = 1,289 / 160 (Chris).
Women – Val Hopcraft bowled a steady 6 games set of 1,025 + 168 = 1,193 /171 as she took 1st place over Manel Hannan in 2nd with a 208 honour game 2 in her 922 + 264 = 1,186 / 154 set. 3rd went to Tina Connop with 811 + 372 = 1,183 /135 and shining bright our of the women’s sheet was Sally Spence in 4th place with a pair of honours in games 3 and 4 of 222 and 204 respectively to card 1,066 + 114 = 1,180 / 178. 5th place was Sarah Boyer with 996 + 168 = 1,164 / 166 and in 6th was Liz Eyre with 918 + 228 = 1,146 / 153.
The men’s High Game of 255 was recorded by Sukky Gill and the men’s High Series of 1,275 (scr.) by Steven Gee. The women’s High Game of 222 and High Series of 1,066 (scr.) were both bowled by Sally Spence.
Congratulations to all who competed, especially our Stop winners Cliff and Val, both winning their first ever Tenpintour Events!. Our next outing sees us at Airport Bowl Harlington on 22/23 August.
