It is with heavy hearts that the Executive and National Council of the BTBA must confirm the passing of our Vice-Chairman, Mr Terry Searle on June 8th.
With more than 30 years as a member of the National Council and even more at the helm of The NAYBC, there are few bowlers competing in the past 25 years who will not have heard of, or indeed have passed through youth bowling under his leadership – most notably perhaps, international superstars Dom Barrett, Stu Williams and Verity Crawley who are ‘burning the lanes’ stateside, and innumerable regular bowlers in Team England qualification, elite leagues and competitions.
Terry has held the posts of NAYBC Head Coach, NAYBC Chairman, Member of the National Council, Treasurer and Vice Chairman. Importantly, Terry was a mentor to so very many people, some of whom are active members of the National Council today, and many other volunteers who remain, like Terry, unsung hero’s of our sport.
We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Lynn, sons Jason and Justin and the wider Searle family.
The funeral is July 12th at All Saints Church, Maldon at 11.00am. The family has asked for donations to the local Church, which can be done with contactless cards or in cash at the church. For those not attending, the funeral directors have set up a donations page on their website here.. (opens in a new browser tab)
UPDATE 11/07/2024:
We have collated some of the social media comments that were posted online about Terry, and we will be sharing them in a memory book with his family.
