
Martin Green wins his fourth and Sandra Simmonds her fifth Tenpintour titles at the Acocks Green Stop of the 2023 Tenpintour.

Martin Green took the honours at Acocks Green with a winning 1562 pins / 210 avg. as he claimed his fourth Tenpintour title, over Steve D Thornton 2nd with 1497 / 230 avg., Jonathan Herbert 3rd with 1481 / 230 avg., Nicholas Parry 4th with 1472 / 205 avg. and Tony Imran 5th with 1463 /218 avg.
Special congratulations also to Thornton who bowled a magnificent 300 in game 3 of his set which included games 206 / 220 / 300 / 246 & 213. Herbert was also ever-present with his 265 / 236 / 244 / 223 & 228 games in 3rd. Parry, a recent returnee to tenpin competition finished with 208 / 223 / 226 & 209 in 4th and Imren had games of 225 / 226 / 238 / 202 & 221 to take 5th.
Other athletes recording event averages of 200 or above included Alan Meades 230 / 7th, Stephen Bose 211 / 8th, Stuart Ruston 203 / 9th, Daren Knightsbridge 215 / 10th amongst others.
Sandra Simmonds won top honours for the women with a winning total 1316 pins / 200 avg. as she claimed her fifth Tenpintour title, over Diane Johnson 2nd with 1294 / 194 avg., Jan Hodge 3rd with 1276 / 190 avg., Sally Spence 4th with 1267 / 189 avg. and Hilary Cooke 5th with 1252 / 175 avg.
Simmonds bowled games of 201 / 209 / 234 & 201 in her set, whilst Johnson almost ‘book-ended’ her set with 203 and 208 games. Hodge opened with 202 & 232 games and Spence sandwiched 209 and 237 games mid-set.
Elsewhere, other athletes did include at least 1 x 200+ game in their sets, but special mention to Gaye McCully opening with 214 / 214 & 202 and Marsha Dalley with 208 & 207 games and Sandra Boswell with 203 and 201 games in theirs.
