12th Annual U22’s Handicap Doubles & Singles – a YBE Discovery Tour 2023 Event

The 12th Annual U22’s Handicap Doubles & Singles for 2023 took place at Hollywood Washington on Sunday 23rd April 2023.

84 youth athletes, 56 boys and 28 girls, bowled at doubles pace in divisions by average to determine the winners.

Div. 1 was for teams with combined averages of 351 and above, Div. 2 was for combined averages of 291 to 350, Div, 3 for 246 – 290 and Div. 4 for 245 and below.  Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed teams.

Running alongside the doubles event was handicap singles, calculated from each athlete’s 3- and 2-game events’ handicap series in one single open division.  Once again prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd athletes in both boys and girls.

1st place went to ‘Team 2’ Jack Blyth & Dylan Griffiths with 2650 over ‘Team 3’ Callam Hall & Ben Marston in 2nd on 2517 and ‘Team 1’ Jack & Dylan once more in 3rd with 2374.

1st place was ‘Castleford 4’ Alex Kurtanidze & Kieran Lunn with 2645 over 2nd placed ‘T-Services (Rhondda)’ Charlie & Shane Burton-Williams with 2609 and 3rd placed ‘Excel 3’ Erin May & Ben Marston with 2507.

1st place was ‘Wearside 5’ Shakeel Crowe & Anya Mallot with 2644 over 2nd placed ‘Shipley 4’ Abbie Rose & Jayden Hartley with 2609 and 3rd placed ‘Wearside 3’ Johnathan & Annelise Malloy with 276.

Division 4 (Doubles)

In 1st place, with the event-leading doubles partnerships score of 2714 was ‘Castleford 2’ Olivia Rogers & Adam Binns with 2714 over both 2nd place and event-leading girls total, of 2645 was ‘Castleford 3’ Emily Rogers & Ellie Rae Owen over 3rd place ‘Hull 3’ Blake Scott & Charlie Blake with 2578.

The male singles ended 1st Kieran Lunn of Castleford YBC with 1386, 2nd Adam Binns also of Castleford YBC with 1330 and 3rd Jack Bkyth of Shipley YBC with 1329.

Female Singles – 2nd
Ellie Rae Owen

Female Singles – 3rd
Olivia Rogers

The female singles saw Charlie Burton-Williams of Rhondda YBC in 1st with 1408, 2nd Ellie Rae Owen with 1398 and 3rd Olivia Rogers with 1384, both from Castleford YBC.
