The 60th BTBA National Championships 2022, Stroud

The 60th BTBA National Championships 2022 took place between 12th and 27th March at Stroud Bowl, Gloucester GL5 1QA.

A total of 200 bowlers, including many youth and juniors, took part in the first National Championships following the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 and onwards.  The BTBA extends their congratulations to everybody who bowled and wishes to acknowledge their continued support for the great sport of bowling in England.  Thank you to you all.

SINGLES

Division 1 – 84 bowlers

1st place went to Ryan Lakey with 800, ahead of Lee Cocker 2nd with 793 and Steve Thornton 3rd on 791.

Division 2 – 48 bowlers

1st place to David Greig on 675, ahead of Mike Sykes and Jack Plampin both on 663 and Connal Mair on 650.

Division 3 – 14 bowlers

1st place to Paul Ruddick on 614, ahead of Pete Wilkes on 591 and Dave Connor on 587.

Division 4 – 29 bowlers

1st place to Angie Brown on 690, ahead of Katie Jowsie on 689 and Nicola Day on 684.

Division 5 – 25 bowlers

1st place to Nikkita Truslove on 652, ahead of Jackie Wyatt on 601 and Terri-Anne Kay on 587.

DOUBLES

Division 1 – 38 teams

Tom Walster Prince (719) & Gavin Greaves (789) topped the Division 1 doubles with 1508, over Jack Saunders (764) & Steve Thornton (689) with 1453 and Ben Robinson (759) & Dan Harding (675) with 1434.

Division 2 – 35 teams

1st place saw Paul Crippen (580) & Selwyn Morgan (760) roll 1340, over Jeff Campbell (659) & Dean Morgan (653) with 1312 and Louie Woodyatt (766) & Paul Ruddick (537) with 1303.

Division 3 – 6 teams

1st place was taken by Harald Grau (608) & Chris Smith (577) with 1185, over Gary Templar (520) & Marc Heme (516) with 1036 and Hilary Cooke (474) & Shaamil Floris (494) with 968.

Division 4 – 13 teams

The Division 4 doubles was topped by Gaye McCulley (601) & Kim Oakley (690) with 1291,  Chelsie Williams (570) & Hayley Russell (697) second with 1267 and Hannah Ailes (595) & Vicki Harman (669) third with 1264.

Division 5 – 8 teams

1st place for Adelaide Buffa (571) & Jasmin Snowball (541) with 1112, over Danielle (517) & Nicole Ediker (575) with 1092 and Bethany Coley (585) & Nikkita Truslove (466) third with 1051.

1st place ‘Terror Pins’ (Keith Gretton (499)/Gary Templar (521)/Marc Helme (563)/Nick Causer (439)) with 2022 over 2nd placed ‘Stroud Strikers’ (Hilary Cooke (464)/Sandy Church (479)/Diane Johnson (426)/Shaamil Floris (542)) with 1911, and in third ‘Anglian Proshops Falcon’ (Stephanie Tilson (496) & Tristan Hinchcliffe (635) with 1131.

Division 4 – 6 teams

Topping Division 4 were ‘Sassy Raccoons’ (Nicky Donowski (500)/Stacey Gould (644)/Maria Gilderoy (661)/Gemma Tsappis (625)) with 2430 over ‘Team Phoenix’ (Elyse Giddens (696)/Evie Giddens (544)/Lorna Scott (615)/Natasja Ailes (560)) with 2415 and ‘Yorkshire Ladies 1’ (Karina Johnson (483)/Tori Pickles (629)/Susie Webb (597)/Katie Jowsey (697)) in third with 2406.

Division 5 – 3 teams

1st place to ‘England’s Silly Wings’ (Izzy Fletcher (562)/Kara Zucca (553)/Danielle Ediker (553)/Nicole Ediker (557)) with 2225 over second placed ‘On the Ball’ (AdelaidenBuffa (474)/Jasmin Snowball (472)/Bethany Coley (552)/Nikkita Truslove (508)) with 2006 and ‘Shipley BC Ladies’ (Catherine Lawless (312)/Jan Baines (410)/Janet Didur (498)/Carole Orange (537)) in third with 1757.

ALL EVENTS – top five places

Division 1

Ben Robinson edged-out Gavin Greaves to take first place in Division 1 with 2188 over 2178, with Jack Saunders in third (2148), Steve Thornton in fourth (2134) and Gareth Greaves completing the top 5 with (2104.

Division 2 

Jack Kerr bowled 1853 to win Division2 over Dean Morgan who was second with 1849, Stu Leader was third with 1847, Connal Mair took fourth with 1835 and Nathan Burrows completed the top five with 1826.

Division 3

First placed Paul Ruddick rolled 1688 over Peter Wilkes in second with 1658, Dave Connor third with 1649, Marc Helme in fourth with 1625 and Harald Grau in fifth with 1610.

Division 4

Hayley Russell headed Division 4 with 2014, over Katie Jowsey’s second placed 1989 and Nicola Day’s 1949 in third.  Lorna Scott finished fourth with 1937 and Kim Oakley fifth with 1884.

Division 5

Terri-Anne Kay bowled 1766 for first, Sian Craven 1721 for second and Bethany Coley 1691 for third.  Jackie Wyatt was fourth with 1681 and Nicole Ediker fifth with 1673.
