1. Introduction

YBE is pleased to introduce the plans for the provisional 2020/2021 YBE Tour.  The tournament/tour season will now run from January to December with tournaments distributed across the year.  The complete calendar is still being finalised due to current circumstances.

A series of tournaments, of various formats, will run across the country.  Entry into each tournament will also earn bowlers Tour ranking points which could result in qualification for the end of season Tour Finals. Some tournaments will also be used for the Youth Team England selection process, information about these will be published by Youth Team England.

YBC’s will also receive ranking points based on the combined average of their bowlers entering a tournament. An end of season YBE Tour shield will be presented to the YBC with the most ranking points.

2. COVID-19

The current government guidelines and the ‘rule-of-6’ are currently preventing tournaments from being sanctioned and as such could delay, or cause cancellation of any planned tournament and, of course, the start of the Tour.

As and when we can run tournaments again we hope to be able to host both Singles and Doubles events. For at least the 2021 season there will be no Team events or tournaments. South of England, North of England, BTBA Youth Nationals will not include the Teams division and will be limited to 6 games (3 Singles, 3 Doubles).  British Youth Team Open will be changed to the British Youth Doubles Open.

3. Tour format

The Tour is open to all U22 youth bowlers (DOB 01/01/2000 or later). Any tournament that limits entry by age will be clearly stated on the tournament entry form.

The Tour Ranking tables will be based on Bowler Averages with separate tables for Boys and Girls.  The five ranking divisions are: A 176-300, B 151-175, C 126-150, D 101-125, E 0-100

For the qualifying games of each tournament ranking points will be awarded based on total pinfall.  1st place in each average division will be awarded 70 points with each place decreasing by 1 point. All bowlers will receive at least 1 point from each tournament entered.

4. YBE Tour finals

To be held in December 2021, at Airport, on strings! A new format for bowlers finishing in the top 6 of their division for the YBE Tour. Round Robin, Matchplay – cash prizes, and more.

5. Tournament requirements
Entry fees for any tournament must be pre-paid via BACS/online payments. No cash will be accepted at the event itself.  Presentations will not be held, and any trophies/awards/prize monies will be sent to the winners directly.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation it is advised that hotels are booked on a flexible rate. The YBE and BTBA will not be held responsible for any loss of hotel charges if tournaments are postponed or cancelled.

Thank you,
