Youth Bowling England has introduced a dress code statement that is applicable to all BTBA sanctioned Youth Tournaments.

General rules applicable to all Tournament Settings

  • Competitors, who in the opinion of the Tournament Committee, are not dressed in a presentable manner will not be permitted to bowl.
  • Alcohol, Vapes and tobacco sponsors are not permitted
  • Plain skorts, skirts, tailored shorts, trousers, jersey pants, cuffed or uncuffed joggers and sports leggings are allowed within these guidelines:
    • Skirts and skort length – The acceptable length of skirts, skorts or shorts, is a length that is no shorter than the tip of the longest figure when the athlete’s arm is resting by their side.
    • Sports leggings can be ¾ or full length and must not be see through.
    • Tailored shorts and trousers do not include cargo/combat style and must not have extra pockets, other decoration and large logos or blocks of different colours/patterns. Cycle Shorts are not permitted.
    • Tenpin bowling brand names are acceptable.
  • No Denim clothing of any description
  • Hats or other headgear will not be permitted without prior request
  • All athletes should feel comfortable in their sporting attire. For example, it should not be insisted that athletes wear skirts or skorts. The general attire rules still apply, however.

SENSORY ISSUES

  • Some youth athletes may have unique clothing preferences and sensitivities due to their sensory processing differences.
  • These should be brought to the Tournament Managers’ attention and all possible accommodations met to ensure the individual can play comfortably.
  • In ALL instances, clothing worn within events should be respectful, safe and suitable for the activities being engaged in.

RELIGIOUS CONSIDERATION

  • All athletes who observe religious rules regarding attire should feel comfortable doing so.
  • These should be bought to the Tournament Managers’ attention and all possible accommodations met to ensure the individual can play comfortably.
  • In ALL instances, clothing worn within events should be respectful, safe and suitable for the activities being engaged in.

Additional Rules for specific tournaments

Youth Bowling Tournaments

  • Bowling Shirts:
    • All bowlers must wear a suitable bowling shirt bearing athlete name and/or YBC name.
    • Team England shirts maybe worn if the athlete is part of the current Team England Squad and is entering the tournament as part of a Team England entry.
    • Virtual High Series winners’ shirts past and present
    • Any specially designed event shirts

Youth National Championships

  • All athletes must wear a suitable bowling shirt with the YBC name clearly visible on the back of the shirt. 
  • Whichever attire is worn it must be of the same colour for the YBC/team.

Youth Inter County Championships

  • It is the responsibility of each County to arrange for provision of suitable shirts of the same colour and design bearing the name of, and if possible, the crest of, their County.
  • Reference to a commercial sponsor may appear but, shall not be more than half the size of the County Name or be the predominant feature.
  • Individual’s names are acceptable on the front or back.
  • Whichever attire is worn it must be of the same colour for the County being represented
