Once the assessment is successfully completed you will receive a certificate and your membership details on the BTBA database will get updated with your new qualification which will be valid for two years.
You may now apply for a licence. The requirements for a Safeguarding licence for Coaching are:
- A BTBA approved coaching qualification, (the Coaching Assistant level is sufficient)
- A current DBS certificate that has been registered with the Update service
- A BTBA membership that includes the “with Coaching” add-on
- A head and shoulders photo for your licence
If you do not have a current DBS certificate you can apply for one using this link (DBS Application)
You can apply for the licence using this link. (Safeguarding Licence)
In order to renew your licence each year you must first renew your BTBA membership this will automatically trigger a licence renewal application. During your first year we will expect you to take one of the BTBA online safeguarding courses. These courses are free of charge and can be accessed using this link (Safeguarding Courses)
If after 2 years, you are still involved in YBCs, or some of our future grass roots projects, we would recommend that you progress to one of the EBF level courses. Otherwise, there will be a need to retake the Coaching Assistants course after this two-year period has lapsed.
At the point of renewal, the following checks will be made
- You BTBA membership still includes the “with Coaching” Add-on
- Your coaching qualification is still Active i.e. not more than 24 months old or you have attended an EBF approved course.
- your DBS certificate will be checked against the update register.
- You must have taken at least one of the BTBA safeguarding courses within the last 12 months. These courses are free of charge and can be accessed using this link (Safeguarding Courses)
