BTBA members’ update from Chairman Lisa John

BTBA Chairman Lisa John has detailed some of the work which has continued behind-the-scenes during the enforced pandemic period of ‘no-bowling’

“Dear BTBA Member,

I just wanted to drop a quick line with an update on some of the things we have been working on:

National Council Appointments
I am delighted to announce a couple of new appointments to the National Council;

  • Paul Loberman as Tournaments Officer.  This is a brand new position on the council and Paul is already starting work on some great ideas. If you have any thoughts or suggestions and wish to contact Paul, his email address is paulloberman@btba.org.uk.
  • Eric Harvey as Director of Sport. Eric has been around bowling for many years and brings with him some new ideas and an enthusiasm to push the sport forward. Eric can be contacted by email at ericharvey@btba.org.uk. Eric takes over this position from Terry Searle who has put in many years of service in this position, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Terry for all this hard work.

‘Return to Play’ Document
As mentioned in a previous correspondence, we have been working hard on a Return to Play document which will allow us to resume league and tournament bowling in a safe and secure manner. This document has been submitted to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and we are awaiting their approval. I would like to thank the National Council for all the work that has been put in to produce this document but in particular, Ron Griffin and Stuart Watson who have worked tirelessly to get this submitted.

As soon as we have the approval of the DCMS we will circulate our Return to Play document to you. In the meantime, I would urge you to keep in touch with your local centres about their plans for the future and support them in any way that you can. I certainly felt a bit rusty when I first hit the lanes again so there will be lots of practice needed before competitive play restarts.

Member Reward Scheme
I’m delighted to announce that we have just signed up to a brand new Member Reward Scheme which we will be making available to our members from 1st October 2020. To give you an idea of what’s in store, please see the attached flyer and as soon as I have more details about the scheme, these will be sent out.

Thank you!
Finally, I’d like to finish this email with another thank you. Thank you to all the members who have continued to support the BTBA during these difficult times. Without your membership renewals, the association would be in a very difficult financial position and I really appreciate your support.

As always, if anyone has any questions regarding any work that the National Council is doing, please do not hesitate to contact me.”

With best wishes,

Lisa John
