The proposed new Membership Tiers were approved at the BTBA AGM on 29 Jul. 2023.
It’s with great pleasure that I can announce the new membership tiers have been approved by the Local Associations during the AGM this weekend. With that in mind, I wanted to take this opportunity to confirm a few details regarding the new tiers, particularly in regards to our younger bowlers.
Whilst it was our intention to launch the new memberships on the 1st September 2023, we have decided to change the launch date to 14th August 2023 due to the Inter County Championships taking place at the beginning of September. This will allow us extra time to iron out any unforeseen teething problems that may occur, as bowlers will only be permitted to play the ICC events if they hold a current membership.
To give us time to change the system over, the new tiers will come into effect on 14th August 2023 and they will be:
League Membership – £15 Per Year
This is aimed at all adults, youths and seniors who bowl at a local level. This membership will be valid for all local, sanctioned leagues and Local Association run tournaments for their LA members. This is aimed at giving local bowlers the chance to ‘taste’ competitive bowling, but also support our Local Associations in organising tournaments and gaining momentum. Similarly, this membership will apply to all youths who bowl in YBC’s or Youth Only Tournaments. This includes Youth Nationals, Youth Inter County Championships and the YBE Tour. Again, this is to support younger players in trying out competitive bowling and progressing in our sport.
Competitive Membership – £35 Per Year
This is focused on all bowlers (adults, youths and seniors) who bowl at a competitive level aimed at Adults/Seniors. This includes access to competing in events such as Open Inter County Championships, Senior Inter County Championships, Ten Pin Tour, ESBT Tour, Sanctioned Tournaments, BTBA Nationals etc. This membership also covers those wishing to bowl any international events, such as the Irish Open, Malta Open, European Tour etc. Any member of the Team England Squad (Youth, Adult or Senior) will also need to hold a Competitive Membership for the duration of their time on the squad.
Now that this has been approved, you will start to see changes to the Membership Services Home Page on our website and I hope you will support the BTBA as we make what will be an exciting change to our membership offer.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or thoughts/feelings.
