The Torquay Junior Doubles 2023 – A YBE Discovery Tour 2023 Event

The Torquay Junior Doubles 2023 took place on 1/2 April at AMF Torquay.

Bowling over 4 squads, athletes bowled 6 games of doubles in divisions by combined average, moving lanes every 2 games, for total scratch pinfall.

Divisions were Div. 1 – combined average 351 and above, Div. 2 – combined average 291 to 350, Div 3. – combined average 246 to 290 and Div 4. – combined average 245 and below.

Division 1 – combined average 351 and above

Torquay Doubles 2023

3rd Div. 1 – Wallasey 1

Four teams made up Division 1.  ‘Out for the Day’ won Division 1 with 1873 / 312.2 avg. over ‘Lincoln 2’ in second with 1756 / 292.7 and ‘Wallasey 1’ in third with 1726 / 287.7.

Division 2 – combined average 291 to 350

1st Div. 2 – Mixtures

2nd Div. 2 – Lightning Bolts 2

3rd Div. 2 – We Don’t Make Suits

There were seven teams in Division 2, and it was ‘Mixtures’ who took first place with 2011 / 335.2 avg over second placed ‘Lightening Bolts’ with 1911 / 318.5 and ‘We Don’t Make Suits’ 3rd with 1835 / 305.8.

Division 3 – combined average 246 to 290

2nd Div. 3  – Wallasey 3

3rd Div. 3 – Wallasey 2
Emily Dixon & Holly Gibbons

‘Taunton A’ headed the six teams in Division 3 with 1533 / 255.5 avg. over ‘Wallasey 3’ 2nd with 1516 / 253.0  and ‘Wallasey 2’ 3rd with 1516 / 252.7, just two pins behind their club mates ‘Wallasey 3’.

Division 4 – combined average 245 and below

1st Div. 4 – Strike it Rich
Olivia & Ava Richardson

Only one team made Division 4, ‘Strike It Rich’, but they put on a fine performance with 1209 / 201.5 avg and were deserving of their first place.

Special Mentions:

Tournament High Games were scored by Joshua Streak with 252 over Nathan Smith 2nd with 203 and Ashton Newton 3rd with 201.

Tournament High Averages were by Joshua with 189.2 over Nathan 2nd with 171.7 and Cameron Davey 3rd with 167.0.

Game 1 High was Nathan with 203 over both Joshua and Ashton Newton 2nd with 195 each and Cameron 3rd (or 4th if you prefer) with 190.

Game 2 High was also Nathan with 178 over Harry Lee 2nd with 176 and Ella Dunphy 3rd with 173.

Game 3 High saw Joshua power a 252 over Emily Dixon 2nd with 180 and Alex Harris 3rd with 180.

Game 4 High was again Joshua with 204 over Taylor Weston-Westgate 2nd with 199 and Cameron back once more in 3rd with 185.

Game 5 High saw Emily return with 198 over Callum 2nd with 177 1 pin above Alex who returned for 3rd with 176.

Game 6 High saw Ashton come back with 201 over Chris Hutt 2nd with 196 and Joshua once more in 3rd with 180.
