The South Coast & Northern Junior Challenges 2023 took place at Hollywood Bowl Worthing and Barnsley Bowl on March 5, 2023.z
Both events took place on the same day, at the same time and on the same oil pattern, albeit in different centres. The events are designed for athletes with averages of 150 and below, and so all competitors bowled a series of 4 games at singles pace, with their ‘best 3’ games combined pinfall determining their finishing position, in Divisions determined by average.

Division C (avg. 131-150) – 7 athletes
James Harding of Eastbourne YBC had the (Division’s) Game 1 high of 173 in his set of (629) 483 putting him on top of the Division C table, over Esmee Corbin-Ellis 2nd with (600) 478 and Astin Dean 3rd with (606) 475, both from Worthing YBC. Ewan Biscoe, also of Worthing YBC, had the Game 2 high of 183, Esmee the Game 3 high of 170 and Astin the Game 4 high of 170.
Division D (avg. 116-130) – 10 athletes
Robert Weed from Worthing YBC won Division D with (539) 437 over Nicholas Russell from Airport YBC 2nd with (556) 427 and Frances Hayden from Farnborough 3rd with (532) also 427 in third. Division Game 1 high of 150 was bowled by Frances, Game 2 high of 166 by Worthing YBC’s Lucy Lawson, Game 3 high of 158 by Robert and Game 4 high of 168 by Nicholas Russell.
Division E (avg. 0-115) – 16 athletes
Connor Edgell of Tolworth YBC won Division E with (594) 459 over Caitlin Brown of Worthing YBC 2nd with (562) 455 and Olivia Richardson of Dunstable YBC 3rd with (532) 418. Divisional Game 1, Game 2 and Game 3 highs were bowled by Caitlin with 161, 145 and 149 and Game 4 high by Connor.

Division C (avg. 131-150) – 21 athletes
Sam Sandy won Division C with (767) 587 over Leighton Fishwick 2nd with (712) 556 and George Moorcroft 3rd with (711) 549. Divisional Game 1 high was bowled by Billy Hardcastle with 204, Game 2 high of 204 by Jayden Hartley, Game 3 high of 210 by Jonathan Malloy and Game 4 high of 215 by Charlie Turner.
Division D (avg. 116-130) – 18 athletes
Jamie Bestwick won Division D with (665) 609 over Luke Ison 2nd with (629) 496 and Riaz Allah-Byrne 3rd with (681) 481. Divisional Game 1 high was bowled by Raheem Ullah-Byrne with 189, Game 2 high of 165 by George Thomas, Game 3 high of 180 by Luke and Game 4 high of 180 by Ryan Fraser.
Division E (avg. 0-115) – 38 athletes
Division E was won by Olivia Rogers with (534) 429 over Tyler Tensely 2nd with (522) 407 and Olly Stephenson 3rd with (503) 394. Divisional Game 1 high was 163 bowled by Olivia, Game 2 high was 152 by Olly, Game 3 high was 160 by Tyler and Game 4 high was 147 by Isabelle Graves.
