Supporting International Women’s Day 2023

The National Council of The BTBA both acknowledge and support International Women’s Day (IWD) with our officials, members and the wider community.

IWD is celebrated every March 8 as a focal moment in Women’s Rights and began on March 8 1857 in New York City, where female textile workers marched in protest of unfair working conditions and unequal rights for women.

As the National Governing Body for tenpin bowling in England the BTBA recognises and supports our female athletes of all ages and abilities.  Sport prepares and primes women and girls to lead – not solely on the lanes, in league or in competition, but in every aspect of life.

All of us can play a part

“The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities aren’t enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.”

”Each one of us can actively support and ’embrace equity’ within our own sphere of influence.   We can all challenge gender stereotypes, call out discrimination, draw attention to bias, and seek out inclusion.“
