2022 BTBA Tour Update

After both the successful Back2Bowling events in 2021 and so many full squads at other tournaments across the country, we are planning to have a full bowling programme of tournaments in 2022.

There are already over 60 events marked on the 2022 calendar across all age groups.

Unfortunately, we did not receive any applications for the recently advertised role of BTBA Tour Manager, so disappointingly there will not be a BTBA Tour in 2022. This was confirmed at last week’s National Council meeting. If anyone is still interested in the position, please get in touch.

The BTBA Tenpintour (Seniors), Youth Bowling England Tour, English Sport Bowling Tour, RESDEV tour (Seniors), and many other tournaments have all locked in their 2022 dates already. This still leaves 16 weekends for other tournaments that wouldn’t clash with other planned events. If any individual, local association or bowling centre would like to run a sanctioned tournament next year, please send me an email.

I’ve already spoken to a few people about some interesting new tournaments and formats planned for next year. We’ll be starting off with a brand new event – The 1st Generation Trios on 5/6 February at Stroud Bowl. Entry forms for this tournament are available on the BTBA Tournament Entry Forms page.

For anyone interested in running events, support is available. I’ve built new software this year to create an online entry form system for singles and doubles events (which will be expanded to more formats in 2022). It can automatically close entries to squads that are already full. I can also check BTBA membership statuses automatically against the GoMembership database. All sanctioned tournaments will also benefit from increased social media coverage in 2022.

I would like to thank all the tournament managers for their patience as I get through the numerous sanction requests received recently. Using the new Sanction Request form helps to speed up the process, but please don’t forget to check the Tournament Sanctioning page and General Tournament Rules to ensure your entry form has all the necessary information and correct 2022 dates to ensure a quick turnaround.

Happy Holidays and best of luck on the lanes in 2022.
