The BTBA National Council are pleased to announce appointments for the Director of Governance and Legal, the Director of Sport and Tournaments officer.

“It is my absolute pleasure to advise you of the appointment of two new members to the National Council with effect from 1st September:

Director of Sport

Eric Harvey joins us in the position of Director of Sport, taking over the reigns from Terry Searle.  Eric brings with him a wealth of bowling knowledge, having been around the sport for many years and is the ideal candidate for this position.  His Coaching and Youth Bowling backgrounds set him up perfectly to take over this very important position on the Executive Council.  As this is a Director’s position, there will be a six month probationary period, after which time Eric will become a Director at Companies House.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the BTBA for appointing me as Director of Sport. Having been involved with bowling for many years and held several official positions I aim to bring my experience to this post. I am looking forward to working alongside old and new colleges, especially those involved with Coaching, Team England, Tournaments and Youth. By working together within the BTBA and with other organisations involved with our sport, I am sure we can get through these difficult and unprecedented times. Going forward, the prospect of developing bowling for the future is both challenging and exciting. This is our sport and with a positive view and everybody pulling together we can ensure a bright new era for our members.” – Eric

Tournament Officer

“The second appointment is to the newly created position of Tournament Officer.  I can confirm that Paul Loberman has been appointed to this position and we are very excited to have him on board.  Paul has been a bowler pretty much all of his life and has participated in all kinds of tournaments both domestically and internationally.  He understands the sport and has some really exciting ideas that we are looking forward to working with him on.”

“I am delighted to have been appointed by the BTBA to the position of Tournaments Officer.   Having many years of international bowling experience—both playing in and running tournaments—and a professional career in digital technology, I am excited to explore the opportunities to help guide and support our tournament play.  This is obviously a difficult time for bowling, and like many bowlers, I too am missing being out on the lanes competing, meeting old and new friends, and having fun. This period, however, also presents us with a unique opportunity to reflect and prepare for the future.  I am looking forward over the coming weeks to speaking with many bowlers and tournament organisers, listening to their tournament needs, and working together with them and the BTBA National Council to find ways to improve the end-to-end tournament play experience for everyone.  I believe that through continually collaborating, working together and providing constant feedback, we can make small changes and improvements that can have big positive impacts for everyone involved in our bowling tournaments.  We all want to bring back tournaments safely, stronger than ever, and as soon as we are able to. I can’t wait to get started, to help set us up on the approach to a great year of tournaments in 2021 and beyond.” – Paul

Director of Governance and Legal

“Finally, I can confirm the re-appointment of Jo Cundy to the position of Director of Governance and Legal.  This will be Jo’s second full term in this position and we look forward to continuing to work with her over the next few years.  Jo has a passion for our sport like no other and we are extremely grateful to have her as part of the team.”

“I am very happy to be able to continue in the role as Director of Governance and Legal. Over the time that I have been in the role I have learned a great deal and I want to continue with the work that has begun, to ensure that the members and the governing body have policies and procedures that work for the benefit of all. I look forward to working with the National Council and our new Chairman Lisa John with the challenges that we may face in the coming months.” – Jo.

“I am really looking forward to working with the council over the next two years and together with the new recruits, I hope that we can shape the sport of bowling for the better.”
