COVID-19 Return to Bowling Update No. 2

I’m aware that some of you have seen that some bowling centres will be allowing their leagues to start again once they are open.  Providing that Leagues are able to adhere to the Government Guidelines, and the bowling centre supports this, leagues can recommence once they are open again.

We must stress that the guidelines must be followed and you must work with your local bowling centre staff/management for this to be possible.  It is down to individual centres to make these decisions and ensure that they can follow the guidelines which have been issued to them. Centres are working hard to ensure they are COVID-19 secure.

Even though the BTBA is the Governing Body for the sport of Tenpin Bowling, we cannot dictate to the proprietors how they must operate, and if your centre does not wish to host leagues for the time being, we all must support their approach and be understanding.

Once we are satisfied that leagues can work within the Government approved guidelines we will sanction them again. Please click this link for a document regarding the update to our rules to take into account these guidelines.  It may help you when working out a possible league schedule.

For a copy of the latest approved guidelines please visit https://www.ukhospitality.org.uk/page/UKHospitalityGuidanceforHospitality.  The section related to Tenpin Bowling currently starts at page 79. These guidelines can alter rapidly to reflect changes in the environment, so please look at UK Hospitality website for the latest copy.

Not all bowlers can return at this time for various reasons and we wish them well during this difficult time.

Everyone is working hard behind the scenes to bring bowling back to normal, this will take time so please be patient.
