Position: Communications Manager

Appointment: 2 Years Commencing 1st September 2019

Job Description

As a member of the National Council, reporting to the Director of Membership Services, this role is involved in many aspects of BTBA communications, including media relations, publications and events. Specific duties will include:

⦁ To engage, develop and lead a communications team.

⦁ Responsibility for supporting the work of the National Council by providing editorial input, creative thinking, a range of writing outputs and planning and co-ordination of different communications projects.

⦁ Development and implementation of the BTBA Communications policy/strategy.

⦁ Establish ‘operating procedures’ for Head Office staff with regard to external communications.

⦁ Engagement with Local and National Media with regard to publicizing the achievements and successes within Bowling at all levels

⦁ Promotion of the sport across aspects of the media, including local/national radio and TV, sports clubs, schools and colleges.

⦁ Maintenance of the BTBA website, social media channels and email addresses.

⦁ Development of a team of contributors to provide regular updates for the website and social media.

Position: Director of Membership Services

Appointment: 2 Years Commencing 1st September 2019

Job Description

Member of the Executive Council with responsibility to promote membership of the BTBA by examining all opportunities to grow the sport and increase participation by working with all external partners and stake holders.

⦁ To consider membership tiers and fees to ensure that they take into account membership and market forces and the financial implications for change, and to liaise with the Finance and Business Committee in drawing up recommendations to NC.

⦁ To monitor membership applications, providing membership cards to all new members along with membership benefits, where applicable.
⦁ Responsibility for maintaining the GoMembership database, and administration thereof.

⦁ To consider membership benefits and discount packages which will assist with recruitment and retention of members and provide a tangible sense of value.

⦁ Organise meetings where applicable of the Membership Services Team and provide regular updates to the Executive Council and the National Council.

⦁ Be responsible for the following National Council members, defining roles and responsibilities and ensuring that their performance against agreed strategies and action plans is formally evaluated on a regular basis and feedback is provided to the Executive Council;

Position: Head of Equality & Diversity

Appointment: 2 Years Commencing 1st September 2019

Job Description

A member of the National Council, reporting to the Director of Governance & Legal, this role will act as the head of Equality & Diversity, which shall be responsible for the development and well-being of all aspects of tenpin bowling. This role will include;

⦁ Actively engaging with the National Council to ensure the culture of equality and opportunity within bowling is recognised and proactively celebrated within the BTBA

⦁ To consult with bowlers to ensure that they feel recognised and valued as an integral part of bowling within the UK

⦁ To bring to the attention of the National Council any matters of concern which are not adequately addressed

⦁ To be a champion for participation in sport and specifically bowling

⦁ To liaise with peers in other sports and National Governing Bodies to ensure best practise is shared across sport

Position: Head of Marketing & Business Development

Appointment: 2 Years Commencing 1st September 2019

Job Description

A member of the National Council reporting to the Chairman (or Vice-Chair in lieu) and responsible for leading the development of the vision, strategy and policies, in consultation with members of the Executive Council. Specific responsibilities will include:

⦁ To manage the formulation of a Business Development Plan through the consideration of financial priorities and proposals, in consultation with the Director of Sport Development and the Director of Membership Services and the Treasurer.

⦁ Support and signpost the National Council in terms of compliance, accountability and financial probity in relation to the governance of the organization.

⦁ Plan financial stability and the most appropriate use of funds with a key focus on increased participation and membership

⦁ To support the Director of Sport Development in the generation of ‘inclusion’ programs.

⦁ Provide regular feedback and commentary to the Communications Manager for inclusion on the website and social media.

⦁ Engage with similar organizations, in terms of sporting and commercial opportunities. To share ideas and find ways to develop best practices to manage and promote the sport

⦁ Seek out opportunities for sponsorship at local, regional and national levels.

⦁ Highlight potential or actual conflicts of interest and give a lead in their recognition and resolution.

⦁ Give firm strategic direction to the BTBA in the matters of setting overall policy, defining targets and monitoring performance.

⦁ Provide a lead in the BTBA’s accountability for its integrity, effectiveness and openness.

Position: Head of Women’s Council

Appointment: 2 Years Commencing 1st September 2019

Job Description

A member of the National Council, reporting to the Director of Sport Development, this role will act as the head of the Woman’s National Committee, which shall be responsible for the development and well-being of all aspects of tenpin bowling for women. This role will include;

⦁ Actively engaging with the National Council to ensure the culture of equality and opportunity for women within bowling is recognized and proactively celebrated within the BTBA

⦁ To consult with female bowlers to ensure that they feel recognized and valued as an integral part of bowling within the UK

⦁ To bring to the attention of the National Council any matters of concern which are not adequately addressed on a local level regarding female participation

⦁ To be a champion for female participation in sport and specifically bowling

⦁ To liaise with peers in other sports and National Governing Bodies to ensure best practice is shared across sport

Position: Treasurer

Appointment: 2 Years Commencing …

Job Description

A member of the Executive Council, with the following responsibilities:

⦁ Liaise with Accountants

⦁ Use of Xero for monthly accounting

⦁ Produce regular financial reports to the Executive Council for review

⦁ Liaise with the Director of Membership Services with regards to Membership pricing structure

⦁ Process and pay invoices from external suppliers

⦁ Process and pay National Council expense claims
