European Youth Championships 2018 – Day 5

The boys were raring to go in the Singles event with the top 24 in the All Events after this proceeding to the Masters round. The boys took to the lanes, keen to make a move and show what they can do. We caught up with Oliver to see what he had to say.

Jay & Oliver

“Singles was a successful event for all four of us bowlers, we threw the ball well and enjoyed the process and therefore we got the scores we deserved. We as a team were most impressed and pleased for Joseph, after struggling to work out the pattern in the first two events, he exceeded every expectation set, and as a team, we were overwhelmed for his improvements. Myself, Robbie and Jay continued to throw the ball good, we got deserving results which fortunately achieved myself and Jay a spot in the Masters event, which is something we’re focused and excited for. Robbie placed well in the All Events, and again, as a team we’re proud of his accomplishments. After the girls having some fantastic success, me and Jay are extremely determined and motivated to balance out the medal ratio!”

Joseph van Vilsteren shot a fantastic 1292 to place 12th in the Singles.

Neville Nock, Head of Delegation said “A big shout out to Joseph who had a tough start but jumped up 22 places yesterday with a fantastic Singles, great team spirit from them all!”

Joseph finished 61st in the All Events and Robbie Bowden 55th. Oliver Spindley (18th) and Jay Goodwin (23rd) will now contest the Masters. Good luck to them both!
