BTBA Chairman explains Change of Registered Office

BTBA Chairman, Ron Griffin, spoke briefly at the Senior ICC Dinner on Saturday, October 15th and took the opportunity to provide an update on the current situation with Head Office administration, and the reason behind the change of the registered address.

“We have come to the end of the 9 month pilot program outsourcing the Head Office Administrative functions to Matchpoint Europe. Whilst there were a significant number of positives coming out of the pilot - like the definition of our requirements and detailing some of the main back room processes that few ever actually see - we know that we have fallen short of providing the level of service demanded by our members.  On behalf of the Executive Council of the BTBA, I would advise that the relationship between the BTBA and Matchpoint Europe has come to an end. We are now looking at finalising a different, decentralised approach to the administrative services.”

Team England Announce Bowlers for Commonwealths and World Singles

Storm Team England are delighted to announce the four bowlers who will be representing us at the Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa in November.
Angie Brown, Becky Daly, Elliot Crosby and Sam Rose have been selected and come with a wealth of experience between them. We would like to wish them the very best as they take on top bowlers from the other Commonwealth countries.
Lisa John will be travelling with the team and will be using her wealth of international bowling experience to assist them in their quest for medals.
We would also like to congratulate Laura Marcham who will be travelling with Emily Allen, Brandon Roberts and John Wells to Doha, Qatar in December to compete in the World Singles. Laura replaces Keira Reay who withdrew from the event.
Storm Team England Manager Alex Hamilton will be assisting the team in Doha as they battle against some of the best bowlers on the World stage.
Although there is no change to the team for the European Champions Cup, we would also like to the opportunity to wish Danni Hopcroft and Hadley Morgan the very best of luck when they travel with Storm Team England Coach Jon Zadel to Olomouc in the Czech Republic in October.
I am sure that you would like to join me in wishing this great group of bowlers well as they see out the last three events of a busy year.
Yours in bowling
Jo Cundy, BTBA Head of Elite

Derek Brooker

It is with deep regret and sadness that we have to report the sad passing of one of the BTBA’s Honorary Life Members, Derek Brooker on the 1st September 2016. Derek joined the BTBA as a member in the early sixties. During his younger years he was a regular tournament bowler just as the sport was establishing itself within this country.

Derek served the BTBA on both local and national committees and became the Area Secretary for the Manchester Area. He was also heavily involved with the Scottish TBA during his time of living in Scotland.

National Coaching Manager Appointed - Lee Hart

The Executive and National Council of the BTBA congratulate Lee Hart on his successful application for the position of National Coaching Manager (NCM).

Lee’s commitment and enthusiasm shone out from his application, his understanding of the needs of both existing and future coaches was also a deciding factor.  Lee’s immediate challenge is to progress our relationship with the ETBF and get the coaching courses arranged and filled, also to continue Mark Heathorn’s good work especially with the FUNdamental program of courses.  Ease of access for both BTBA coaches and players to material and facilities is something Lee has been passionate about over the years.
